Get the emo girlmug. A subgenre of punk music that takes influence from hardcore punk, indie rock, and pop-punk. Emo is known for it’s more melancholy sound and sincere lyrics. The name originates from a portmanteau of emotional and hardcore (emocore) which eventually was shortened to emo. A famous subgenre of emo is screamo, which is more abrasive and has screamed vocals, the term is often misused to refer to bands that use screamed vocals

1) A person that can usually be identified by loads of dark clothing, side-swept bangs that often cover an eye (or both), Chuck Taylor sneakers that may be written on with sharpies, and often times dark eyeliner and facial piercings for both genders. Can also refer to someone that is depressed or has resentment to society, or even inflicts harm upon themselves.
2) A load of bullshit.
3) Simply a name given to music (that is generally angst-y and may contain screaming and crying) so that it may be sorted.
4) To act in such a way that is appalling due to its depressing nature.
