Oxygen gets less and less and if oxygenation isn't restored either by the patient, CPR, or a ventilator, the patient will die. Desat is commonly used in the hospital when talking about a patient who's oxygen saturations are going down as seen on a pulse oximeter and/or arterial blood gas.
