Like, did you know that there was this one time when a kid were I fell off one of those silver slides and ended up needing a cast? I got a blue one because my favorite color is blue. Do you like blue too? I bet you do, and I bet that it’s your favorite because it’s my favorite color as well. Anyways, when I went back to school everyone was always asking to sign it and hang around me to hear about the story of how it happened! I was like suuuuuper popular by the way. You know, saying that just in case you couldn’t tell, but I think you could tell because I still am. Obviously. What were you gonna say again?
Person 2: I-.. What?????? You’re such a damn ego muncher I swear to god. You can’t even let me finish answering the question YOU asked ME without making it all about yourself!

Sadly, such feelings of joy over self validation run both positively and negatively and include acts of self validation by invalidating others , bullying. The APA's DSM V lists "gratification" in the traits for "Antisocial Personality Disorder".
