The term is claimed to have originated from fans of the incestuous ship, Wincest, to belittle Destiel in the late 2010's. In more recent years, more specifically after the season 15 episode "Despair", in which the character Castiel confesses his love for Dean, many Destiel shippers reclaimed the the term and began using it to refer to themselves. Still, it can be used in a negative context, mostly by fans who prefer other ships or adamantly hate Destiel.
