To go over board about a particular subject. In doing so, causing the none nerd's eyes to glaze over....

Person 1: "Hey I played (X) videogame the other night. It was actually fun."

Nerd 1:"I absolutely love that game!" Then goes into extreme detail about said topic, while the other person just kinda stands there.... Then finally the nerd realizes what he has done saying "Sorry man, I kinda nerded out for a moment there..."

FIAP is the local program at some Canadian High schools that assist mentally retarded students. The term reflects a person who is acting under similar conditions (physically or mentally) of that of a FIAP.
