The act of knowing what someone wants, and deliberately going out of your way to either not give it to them, or give them something completely different. In a way opposite of how Paramount went out of their way to fix Sonic’s design when the public asked them to in 2020’s “Sonic the Hedgehog” film.

A move that requires the creators to redesign a certain character after getting tons of backlash from the previous design online, the most prominent (and so far, the only known) example of this being the obvious Sonic The Hedgehog from the Sonic Movie.
Person 1: This photorealistic version of (insert character here) looks incredibly ugly.
Person 2: I hope they "Pull A Sonic" and redesign that character.

To do something wrong in a manner that would anger a whole community, then do it again in a better way that would calm said community from their previous outrage.
They said something that made the internet freak out, and are now required to rephrase the comment to avoid future outrage - “pull a Sonic” if you will.
