This term grew in prominence in the Late 80s - Early 90s with the rise of personalities like Queen Latifah, Dee Barnes, & others. The Term has created a rift amongst Black Men who grew up with Women that took pride in this term. Often seen these Women's hypocritical behaviors and choices in partners as signs these Women aren't that dignified.
