Great Oppression

What greed, oligarchy, fascism, populism, nationalism, and hate intermingle in the post-industrial age. Occurs sometime after the American 'Great Recession.'

A: Dude, looks like capitalism is going to go bust, and in the meanwhile, tons of seemingly normal people are hating on immigrants because of their faiths or home country. The elites are richer than they were before, and many of them are pandering bigotry wholesale.
B: They should call it the Great Oppression. The fear is blinding their reason again.

Great-Pumpkin

Great-Pumpkin: (verb)To be "Great-Pumpkined" is to be let down in a big way, especially when others have been doubting or making fun of your sincerity over what you're hyped up; also, to be stood-up by someone.

An allusion to "It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown!" where Linus is convinced that the Great Pumpkin will come to his sincere pumpkin patch, and convinces Sally to join him. The Peanuts gang teases them and warns them they are making a big mistake. The Great Pumpkin never shows and Linus, still convinced that the Great Pumpkin will materialize, mournfully yells into the sky: "Oh Great Pumpkin, where ARE you?!"

We really hope this forecasted snowstorm doesn't Great-Pumpkin us; we could really use the snow-day!

That gift wasn't as amazing as I expected; I feel like I was Great-Pumpkined.

Let's go cheer up our boy; heard he got Great-Pumpkined by that girl on that dating site.

Great Jagras

The Great Jagras is the first large monster hunted in Monster Hunter: World. An overlarge Iguana with a fleshy mane, it leads packs of smaller Jagras lizards.

It is one of the weakest monsters in the game and is therefore looked down upon and roasted by much of the community.
At least not as much as its edgy cousin, Great Girros.

I got carted by Great Jagras, and now I cannot play MHW out of shame.

Great expectation

Expecting someone to do something like work 4 jobs or fly.

The girl wanted to see somebody fly freely (without being in an aircraft or having a parachute) even though nobody could do that. The people who tried to live up to her expectations are all dead, those who watched them die didn't find her great expectations liberating at all.
