Someone who acts just to keep up with a stereotype, and later instead of recognizing it, (Yes they're in denial) they tend to call others who aren't even close to a poser a 'Poser'. Pretty much, someone who believes they qualify for that certain label, but can't pull it off.
"Man, I'm Scene!" "Um, no, coon tail clip-ons and a BMTH shirt is not Scene, shut the fuck up, you Poser."
One who attempts to make friends or become closer friends with a group of people by feigning interest in a particular area of culture (music, clothing, social activities).
Generally a poser is someone who lacked friends for not fitting in with any real group, they decided to become more like everyone to make friends. Sometimes they actually do become legitimately interested in the new groups lifestyle, but oftentimes they only pretend and lead a life of lies
"John thinks he's a punk rocker, I asked him about punk rock music, and he told me all about 'Teenagers' by My Chemical Romance and 'Know Your Enemy' by Green Day. I asked him what his other favorite songs by those bands were and he told me he thought they were one-hit wonders. I guess he's a bit of a poser"
Sidenote: Green Day is awesome but if you only listen to their most recent two albums, then you can't call yourself a fan... or knowledgeable about the subject.
A person either boy or girl who changes they're looks and personality to fit in with another social clique. Like around one bunch of friends they will act emo and listen to depressing music and talk about how much their lives suck, but when they're around another bunch of friends they will act like a ganster listening to rap and wearing baggy pants and bling. Most 'posers' do not actually like the things they have to do to fit in, but they're are so set on being accepted they will do the things they are totally against. They also tend to copy other peoples styles then tell the person they copied it from that 'they made the style up'. Most people are posers because it's so damn hard to be an individual now-a-days (!). Oh and they also tend to label themselves a lot.
-Pretending to be someone or something you're not
-usually in order to fit in somewhere that you're not wanted
-mostly found in groups such as emo, goth, hipster, or scene
-pretending to like things such as music or clothes, but knowing nothing about either.
There were many posers at the concert who didn't evenknow the bands that were playing or the words to their songs. They looked completely out of place.
