Answer Erosion

Answer Erosion (noun)

A logical fallacy in which a person repeatedly asks increasingly difficult or detailed questions to undermine the validity of earlier correct answers. The goal is to gradually discredit the original responses, despite them being accurate, by introducing new and higher standards of inquiry that were not present when the answers were first given. This tactic can also be used to distract from or avoid addressing the original point being contested.
Example:
Person A: "The capital of France is Paris."
Person B: "But what’s the population of Paris? Can you tell me the exact area of Paris? What about the history of Paris in the 18th century?"
Person A: "Well, I didn’t give all those details, but the answer is still correct."
Person B: "Ah, but you didn’t really know the full story, did you?"

In this example, Person B uses Answer Erosion not only to undermine Person A's correct response by raising the bar with more complex questions but also to shift the focus away from the original, simple fact (the capital of France), effectively distracting from the main point.

Semantic Erosion Theory

A sociological and linguistic doomsday model proposing that a society's capacity for sincerity, professionalism, and critical thinking is being permanently dissolved by the over-saturation of memes, irony, and "brainrot" content.

Proposed by Remi Cloutier, the theory suggests that memes act as a "temporal virus." As memes become increasingly abstract—infecting basic integers (e.g., "6-7"), common verbs (e.g., "lit," "come"), and neutral gestures—they "erode" the serious layer of human language. Eventually, the "Analog I" (self-awareness) collapses, and humans regress into a Bicameral state where they are incapable of authentic thought, only reactive laughter or "follower" behavior triggered by algorithmic prompts.

The Three Pillars of Semantic Erosion:

Retroactive Irony: Historical figures and serious documents lose their gravity because their words accidentally trigger modern "brainrot" memes, overwriting the past with a shallow joke.

Neutrality Loss: Simple, objective data (like numbers or professional terms) becomes "naughty," "funny," or "cringe," making the transfer of serious information impossible.

Linguistic Entropy: The state where "everything" is a meme, meaning nothing is specifically funny. Society loses both its ability to be serious and its ability to be truly humorous, leading to global apathy and a functional collapse of infrastructure.
I tried to tell the recruiter I had 6-7 years of experience, but she just started laughing because of Semantic Erosion Theory. We literally can't even talk about numbers anymore without it being a joke.

Individual societal value erosion effect

or ISVEE; The process where, after somebody dies, society and the government value the person who died less as time passes by. The more time that has passed since the person died, the less society and the government value them as an individual. How rapidly this process occurs depends on how important society viewed the person as being, how they died, and how many close friends and family the individual had.
Person 1: Isaiah was nice guy. Its a shame more people don't remember who he was and how much he helped this community. Its only been five years since he died.
Person 2: Yeah. Unfortunately, a lot of people have forgotten about him and value him that much anymore. He is a victim of the Individual societal value erosion effect, which is very unfortunate.
Person 1: I agree with you there.
