Bodega

A hispanic/spanish/latin mini-mart, kind of like a "Shop Rite", but usually smaller and more like a liquor store/lotto ticket buying atmosphere. It's kind of like the place your mom might have sent you into as a kid to buy her a hot dog with extra onions, but smaller. Commonly used term on the east coast, especially in the New York City region, where you will find many of these, but in addition to hot dogs they sell "pizza bagels" and hot nuts. The word came from the actual spanish word for "grocery store" - la bodega.
