A parody on "anime", animu is a word used to say anime in a mocking or teasing way.

It can be used as an adjective where describing something as "anime" wouldn't sound correct.

It can also be used simply as a replacement for anime, but is only used in a joking way. When used as a noun, it usually is plural, but this is not a rule.

"I like the band 'Gesu no Kiwami Otome', but they might not be animu enough for your weeb tastes."

"Look at me, I enjoy watching all the animu because I'm a Japanophile!"
