Lambda Theta Phi

On December 1, 1975, history was made – history which would have a positive impact on the Latino community and our nation; history which would forever change the collegiate Greek system, more specifically, the entity known as a fraternity. On December 1, 1975, Lambda Theta Phi was founded on the campus of Kean College in Union, New Jersey.

In 1975, there were no Latino fraternities in existence in the United States. Lambda’s founders, as men of vision, realized there was a need to unite the Latino students, develop their leadership skills, impart upon them the value of an education, and instill in them a commitment to their community and culture. This newest addition to the Greek system would be the first in the nation, by identity and by name: Lambda Theta Phi Latin Fraternity, Incorporated. Academic Excellence – Brotherhood – Leadership – Latino Unity -Service.

Lambda Theta Phi was born to promote the spirit of brotherhood, to protect the rights of Latino students in his/her quest for an education, to promote the rich Latino culture, and to maximize leadership potentials to provide guidance to our community.

Lambda pants

Alternative term for Y-fronts. The shape of the fly, although resembling an upside-down 'Y', actually looks more like a lambda symbol (the right way up).

I'm wearing my best lambda pants for my date tonight - I hope she likes them. At least the skid marks won't be too obvious.

Lambda Upsilon Lambda

La Unidad Latina, Lambda Upsilon Lambda Fraternity, Incorporated was established on February 19, 1982 in order to address the shortcomings of academic institutions in meeting and addressing the needs of Latino students in higher education. Founded at Cornell University in Ithaca, New York, La Unidad Latina, Lambda Upsilon Lambda Fraternity, Incorporated primarily seeks to take a leadership role in meeting the needs of the Latino community through cultural awareness, community service, and promotion of the Latino culture and people.

Pi Lambda Chi

Pi Lambda Chi is a Latina sorority founded in Boulder, Colorado in 1994, to create a strong sisterhood and educational support network among women on college campuses. Their open motto is 'Preserving Latina Culture.' Some of the finest, most-intelligent, Latina women in Colorado. Their colors are forest green and gold. Also known as PLC or the Golden Chis.

Lambda Time

When bros. are going to some event, chances are they are running behind. This is called lambda time. In most cases, the bros can arrive anywhere from 15 minutes to an hour of when the actual thing started.
