To ask someone how they know something to verify the accuracy. This makes fun of educational institutions that force you to always cite sources when you write a paper, but used in something much less formal.

A system of citing academic writing that is inferior to that of the Chicago Works Cited system. This is based on the elemental fact that Chicago is a far superior region of the United States to california. Often used to insult poorly cited works.
Eric: "Did you read Paul's PL300 paper?"
Cory: "Yeah, I think he used California Works Cited."
