“Hey where is our teammate, oh he is out there pulling a coastie”
“ Dude is he really pulling a coastie?!!”

A member of the enlisted United States Coast Guard and/or their spouce as well as their immediate family. It is an informal term primarily used within the Coast Gaurd community by active duty military and their spouces. The term does not only refer to the "Coast" in "Coast Guard" but refers to the act of transferring and being relocated to stations along coastal areas, as in living or "coasting" coast to coast.
