There are two accepted definitions of scooping potatoes:
When a skier or snowboarder is carving deep, rounded tracks into fluffy snow (i.e., the gnar), they are said to be scooping potatoes.
Alternately: when one seduces a kitchen staff member at the mountain resort lodge, the eventual act of bodily communion is also known as scooping potatoes.

A mans favourite food.
Normally if someone's favourite food is potatoes and gravy than they most likely are a teacher that gives mints to students, hates people named Nathan and makes you take out your headphones to tell you how they're going to cook their dinner.
