Defensive Attendance

Attending a meeting where you are optional or not invited at all just to make sure you can deflect any work assignments that come out of it. Wasting an hour to save hours.

Murdoch defence

Rejecting responsibility for any wrongdoing within your organisation because it's too big. Laying the blame on people who you trusted that let you down and let down the people who you trusted and so forth. Then claiming you're the best person to clear up the mess!

Louise Mensch: "Mr Murdoch, have you considered resigning?

Rupert Murdoch: "No."

LM: "Why not?"

RM: "Because, I feel that people I trusted, I'm not saying who, I don't know what level, have let me down. I think they behaved disgracefully and betrayed the company, and me. It's for them to pay. I think that, frankly, I'm the best person to clear this up. I plead the Murdoch defence!"

Ingestion defense

A reason given for a failed drug screen

When called into the manager’s office and informed of his failure to pass

a random drug screen, the Staten Island ferry worker replied in a panic stricken voice
“It’s not my test, it’s not my test.”

“What do you mean it's not your test? I’m sorry but the procedures and protocols are standard and the custody chain is valid. You failed for cocaine use,” replied the manager.

“No, no I don’t use cocaine, I was blowing Ricardo the ship yard worker and I ingested it. He does cocaine, I don’t” cried the deckhand.

“Oh, so you are claiming the ingestion defense?” asked the manager.
