When one kills a joke but instead of killing it he or she will continue the joke up until the point where no one remembers the joke but only how terribly it has been killed. Disgust with the person who ponched the joke is often associated.

John: Wow I can't even remember why we were even talking about unicorns
Bill: Well I made a joke and Chris ponched it
John: Oh yeah, he seriously murdered that joke
