It's more insidious than a back-handed compliment in the way that you don't really realize it's a critic.

A paradox in which a discord server appears to be nice and friendly from the outside/when you just get in, but after being there long enough you start seeing a lot of toxicity/people showing their true faces and whatnot. This usually happens on bigger “wholesome” servers which then turn pretty ugly at a random time.
