A haunted file is a file in a law firm where something bad happens every time it is touched almost as if the spirits are angry.
Steve: "Hey Jenn, are you okay you look upset?"
Jenn: "I was all ready to go away for the weekend but then I got an email from the other side in the Jones file that they have filed an emergency motion so now I'm gonna be in the office all weekend."
Steve: "Did you touch that file before you got that email?"
Jenn: "Yeah, I did a quick check of the critical dates to ensure they were in my calendar"
Steve: "Yep, you touched the haunted file and now the spirits are angry with you"
Typically used in Law Firms this concept can also be extended into any professional field with minor modification.
Mike the electrician: "Damn I installed a GFCI and then had to spend 4 hours fault detecting"
Joe the electrician: "Let me guess MANUFACTUROR X?"
Mike: "Yeah how did you know?"
Joe: "They make haunted parts, if you put them in a house the spirits get angry"

The computer file hosts is an operating system file that maps hostnames to IP addresses. It is a plain text file. Originally a file named HOSTS.TXT was manually maintained and made available via file sharing by Stanford Research Institute for the ARPANET membership, containing the hostnames and address of hosts as contributed for inclusion by member organizations. The Domain Name System, first described in 1983 and implemented in 1984,1 automated the publication process and provided instantaneous and dynamic hostname resolution in the rapidly growing network. In modern operating systems, the hosts file remains an alternative name resolution mechanism, configurable often as part of facilities such as the Name Service Switch as either the primary method or as a fallback method.

A huge file, maybe a presentation or spreadsheet, that you inevitably need to send when your internet is down.
I need to finish sending this Big Ass File to boss lady Dina before she leaves tonight, it's really harshing my mellow.

People that have on-line stores they think they should be making millions of dollars without ever spending a dime on advertising or SEO.
Filed Of Dreams Syndrome - Anyone that is mad because no one shops at their crappy little store. Then they blame the web host who has nothing to do with it.
