Quiet Guy Effect

The akward silence followed by hostility that quieter guys experience when talking to a girl. However, if a more outspoken guy says the exact same thing, it is tolerated and often respected. This occurs because of the assumption many (though not all) girls make that guys that don't talk much and keep to themselves are perverted.

Jackass: Care to hear a joke? (tells a dirty joke)

Girl: Hahahaha! That's funny. I'll have to remember that one.

Quieter Guy: (tells same dirty joke)

Girl: You perverted bastard! Is that all you ever think about? You'll never get any if you think jokes like that are funny. Go burn in hell, pervert!

Quieter Guy: Well, I'm probably not going to "get any" anytime soon anyway. God dammit, why do I always cause the Quiet Guy Effect no matter which girl I talk to?

Russell Crowe Effect

Principally a form of Guilty Pleasure, the Russell Crowe effect describes the emotion felt when enjoying a piece of creative work by a person who you consider to be a complete twat. On the one hand you may well enjoy what the person is doing, but on the other feel a guilty twinge that you are giving your attention and money to someone you actually can't stand. This phenomenon is very similar to the Christian Bale effect, where you may enjoy the work of someone who has disappeared up their own anus, but should not be confused with the Tracy Emin effect, where the artist is clearly both unpleasant and crap.

A term explaining the phenomenon of "pulling" people to you and following your activities and antics on an ongoing basis.

In business, the Lady Gaga Effect describes how individuals, groups and organizations create value-added products or services that "pull" people to you using digital media. The Lady Gaga Effect negates efforts to "push" products and services on clients and customers. It may reduce marketing costs since people are continually drawn to you.

Bloggers and Tweeters consciously or unconsciously use the Lady Gaga Effect to create a "buzz" around their latest postings and content. People then follow them because they seemingly get value from their insight and subsequent postings.
