Power Straight

adj. / noun

(1) A term used to describe a woman—usually in sports or high-level leadership—whose confidence, swagger, and unshakeable dominance in her field make her both intimidating and magnetic. Think of it like a "power suit," but with athleticism and laser focus instead of pinstripes.

(2) Inspired by WNBA sharpshooter Sabrina Ionescu, “Power Straight” references someone (often a woman) who is unmistakably straight but moves through the world with the badass energy, precision, and cool typically reserved for queer icons. She hits threes, shuts down doubters, and doesn’t need to raise her voice to command a room.

When someone can conceptualize human personal power (i.e. the little tools we use to get what we want in the world) or the power of a particular title,

i.e. president, and can hold that idea in the brain without associating stereotypical gender expectations to it.

The Pear Computer Company has really androgenized power with the language of their job descriptions and equal pay.
