RIDS stands for Racial identity Dysphoria Syndrome.

Racial identity dysphoria Syndrome is a condition where a person experiences significant distress due to a mismatch between their racial identity and the race assigned to them at birth. It can lead to anxiety, depression, and other mental health issues. Treatment may involve therapy or racial reassignment surgery (RRS) to align one's physical appearance with their racial identity.

Although born in Nebraska to white presenting parents; in order to reclaim Bradley's African cultural identity, he changed his name to Kwame and adopted a flamboyant Kente cloth as his native fashion of choice. He attributed this to his RIDS and we all must respect his self determination as a black man.
