1. Noun (contemporary) - substituted in place of the word “source” when requesting a link or code to the source material of an image, video, or text. Specifically used when aforementioned image, video, or text is of anime or manga media. Most often but not exclusively used for pornographic anime and manga.

2. Adjective (archaic) - To embellish with unnecessary but provocative detail.

1. *in reference to a post containing a pornographic image from a hentai*
“What’s the sauce?”
(Note: this is the grammatically formal structure of this question, but in common speech the question is shortened to just “Sauce?” without meaning lost)
