Old Sydney Town was a tourist attraction on the Central Coast depicting early settlement life in Sydney. This colonial attraction was a great success throughout the 80’s. So popular, local residents would dress in period costume contributing to the atmosphere of role play. One such character, was a young boy from Umina named David who was commonly known as the Boss of Old Sydney Town.

Get the The Boss of Old Sydney Town mug.A small rural or suburban town that people live in for the entirety of their lives. These towns are filled with families who have been there for generations. Children are born and raised there, where their parents were born and raised before them. Everyone knows each other. If a person doesn’t get out of the town as soon as they have independence, they will most likely be “trapped” there.
Trap towns generally have run down buildings, issues with alcohol and underaged drinking, and are not located near any big cities.

The Dreadnoughts, a Canadian folk-punk band, have referenced Shiloh Town in several songs on their album 'Into the North'. It's almost always described as a lower-class village on the Mississippi River, inhabited by "river rats, junkers, and sailors". Since then, the term has come to define any place where you'd rather not be.
