When a middle-age, very white man accidentally exposes his belly between his shirt and pants.
(while climbing a ladder in mixed company) "Oh, pardon me. I'm having a Pete Townshend moment."

Viewing any kind of sexually stimulating material (not necessarily illegal or even explicit) on the internet. In common use in northern England, and possibly elsewhere, this expression originates from pop musician Pete Townshend's explanation of why he gave his credit card details to a website containing visual depictions of children being sexually abused - that he wished to view the material for research purposes. Although the implication of the term is that Townshend was lying he was, in fact, cleared of all charges.
Sorry I didn't answer the phone, I was doing some Pete Townshend-style research.

Besides an unlikable guy with lots of money and a talent for playing guitar (and not beating someone with one as a weapon, since that allegedly got him knocked out) who would Pete Townshend be without the Who?
Roger Daltry makes it sound like he wouldn't be anybody in particular without the Who, but really the Who was still a likeable band with him as the face of the band (before the 80s). It hasn't been the same since Pete Townshend started convincing everyone else in the band that he was the best thing to ever happen to the Who, and that nobody else was good enough to question him.

Besides an unlikable guy with lots of money and a talent for playing guitar (and not beating someone with one as a weapon, since that allegedly got him knocked out) who would Pete Townshend be without the Who? Is it somehow unfair to Pete Townshend to think or say any of that? It's possible to respect somebody's ability/talent (not underestimate their capability) while having no respect for who and what they are as a human being.

At least Roger Daltry seems like a guy who had some heart.

Example of respecting an ability but not the person with the ability- The subject knew the king/queen was capable of executing him or worse, and though he was cautious about what he said and did, he still knew he didnt owe the king/queen or anybody else any respect.

Its interesting how people ignore the likelihood that a guy like Pete Townshend would happily try and put them out on the street because he is talented at something they like (music). Some people even think the guy is awesome even though they've never met him and dont know him.
Before the Who, who the fuck was Pete Townshend? Without the Who, who the fuck is Pete Townshend?
