Gossip Girl Books

The Gossip Girl Books are written by Cecily von Ziegesar. They are books describing the lives of different poeple on the Upper East Side in New York City. It discusses parties, the presence of drugs and alcohol, family life, events, such as fashion shows and charity get togethers, vacations, schooling, and of course designer clothes. Two people the books follows are Blaire and Serena who lead the most fabulous lives including vacations in St. Barths, beautiful luxurious penthouses, and private schools for the uber rich. These girls are socialites and truly live the socialite life with their pictures in big papers and glossy magazines. These books are addictive and unforgettable. You will not be able to put them down unless you are jealous of the rich and famous, which most people are I suppose.
Girl 1: I read the entire Gossip Girl series in one day. They are impossible to put down!

Girl 2: Those books disgust me. I bought the first one and threw it away.

Girl 1: Well I am gorgeous and rich so I can read the books without getting jealous.

Girl 2: Hmf!

Gossip Girl, Psycho Killer

The book written by the author of the Gossip Girl series as a mashup, in which the two main characters, Serena and Blair become serial killers and kill everyone they hate in Manhattan, trying to keep blood away from their brand new Prada bags or YSLs.
Girl : OMG, Gossip Girl, Psycho Killer is so great!
Other Girl: My favorite part is when Serena kills the guy that didn't wanna pour her a Martini for being underage!
Girl: Too bad her Gucci got dirty!
Other Girl: Tots.

Gossip Girl Books

Decently written but slightly overrated book series by Cecily Von Ziegesar. These were perhaps the first books to describe the lives of wealthy, slightly screwed-up young adults, but they were certainly not the last. Many similar series have followed, including The Clique, The A-list, and Private.
They are very popular among girls who dislike reading, because they describe a glamorous world and reading them is very wish-fulfilling. However, they've got plenty of literary references in them that sail over the heads of most teenage readers.
They're more or less well-written, give credit where credit is due, but let's get one thing straight: they are not great American literature or anything.
Obsessed and slightly dippy fangirl: I looooove the gossip girl books, they're soooo high lit.

Nice, normal person: they're all right, but perhaps you just wish you were Serena?

Obsessed and slightly dippy fangirl: nooooo! they're deep! they're high literature!

Nice, normal person: yeah... keep telling yourself that.
