Ok, let me give the real definition of this word. 9 man band from Iowa, have came out with 4 albums. The band is NOT black or death metal, i call it simply..metal. The band does have talent, as for the drummer joey (not the best in the world, but up there) and the vocalist corey. Overall this band is fairly good, some of the songs ARE complete bull shit. This definition is coming from someone who listens to ALL genres of metal, slayer, dimmu borgir, absu, cannibal corpse, so i know a little bit about the music.
The slipknot fans need to simmer down and listen to all metal.

A so-called "nu metal" band that evolved in the early to mid 90's.
It consists of 9 members.
#0 - Sid, turntables.
#1 - Joey, drums. main set
#2 - Paul, bass.
#3 - Chris, custom percussion.
#4 - James, guitar.
#5 - Craig, samples/media.
#6 - Shawn, custom percussion.
#7 - Mick, guitar.
#8 - Corey, vocals.
The band has gone through some changes. Meaning they've had ex-members.
The band currently has FOUR albums out to this date.
1 - Rare demo CD. "Mate. Feed. Kill. Repeat."
2 - Self-titled. "Slipknot"
3 - "Iowa"
4 - "Volume 3: The Subliminal Verses"
The band originated out of Des Moines, Iowa.
All of the band members have been involved with at least 2 or more other bands since the early 90's.
In my OPINION, they are a kick-ass band.

If you ACTUALLY sit down to READ and decipher their lyrics, you'll find out that their lyrics are full of insightful meanings and they have a very wide-spread vocabulary.

I personally think that this band does NOT get enough credit.
Like I mentioned previously, they have VERY insightful lyrics with deep meaning. But not only that.. their MUSIC is excellently written.
Their drummer, Joey Jordison #1, drums writes most of their actual music.
He's a very talented young man.

I've read in MANY drummers' magazines and websites that Joey Jordison is one of the fastest and BEST drummers of all time.

A very good Nu-Metal band with 9 guys who go crazy at live shows. They are from Iowa, and have 4 CDs out. They where featured in Ozzfest this year, and the will kill Fread Durst, the bitch from Limp Shit.

A pretty decent nu-metal band from Iowa, consisting of 9 members. Famous for the masks they wear and their status among other nu-metal bands. Their new album (Subliminal Verses) is also pretty good. Still, they're not the greatest metal band - or even nu-metal band - but they can definately crank out some tunes, and they're all around good guys who deserve some respect.

Most people class there as Nu-Metal but id class it as a mix between Nu metal, Rap metal and industrial metal
