Outrage Culture

The manufactured response of anger through misleading facts to be targeted against people/things who had nothing to do with the original events/“outrage”
“Did you see those liberals banned Dr Seuss!”

Well Kyle, it was actually the publishers who made that decision, stop falling for Outrage Culture.

“They’re teaching Islam in school!”

Peter, they talk about all Abrahamic faiths during history in schools, they have for years. No ones converting your child, that’s Outrage Culture.

“Those pedo libtards are letting Men into Women bathrooms”

Outrage Inflation

The reduction in the meaningfulness and relevance of individual controversies as they are swallowed in a sea of other concurrent controversies and outrage. Comparable to economic inflation.

A symptom of the Internet age and the neverending cycle of overreaction, bitterness and hostility. It is not necessarily entirely a reflection of the proliferation of controversy over minor events, given that the news is also filled with many shocking events of great magnitude. The fact that it is easy to forget what mind-numbingly stupid thing Donald Trump said two weeks ago is also a symptom of outrage inflation.
We'll all soon forget that time Trump nearly declared war by mistake thanks to outrage inflation and the 24-hour news cycle.

Outrage fatigue

Throwing a massive tantrum to the point of both physical and mental exhaustion of the tantrum-er.

Most commonly seen in kids under the age of 9. Can also happen to adults who have anger issues (which could be quite devastating).
When little Johnny came out of his room to find his parents gone, he started to weep and cry. When their parents shortly came back, little Johnny was furious in tears and started screaming and wailing at them with all his might. Soon after 10 minutes he was so tired from all the screaming that he felt dizzy and collapsed onto the floor. Little Johnny just had an outrage fatigue.

outrage archaeologist

One who sifts through historical records with the intent of discovering information on past actions or statements by persons or entities alive, dead, active or defunct - the relevance of which has long since passed - for the express purpose of alerting the public to the "resurfaced" material in order to take a moral stance and/or instill outrage.
By dredging-up a long-forgotten, 48 year old interview of John Wayne - who died in 1979 - the outrage archaeologist had rediscovered statements far more controversial in the present than they had been in the past, thus creating a new moral outrage over a functional irrelevancy.
