African Earworm

When the song Africa plays on the radio once (by weezer or Toto) and is stuck in your head and It drives you nuts yet puts you in a hyperactive mood.

I can’t get an Africa - stuck out of my head- it’s gonna take a lot to take me away from you- there’s nothing that a hundred men or more could ever do! I have an African Earworm- I bless the rains down in Africa!!!

Don Quijote earworm

Named after a Japanese retail store known for its jingle titled "Miracle Shopping", this slang term refers to the earworm cause by hearing the in-store jingle on loop for hours on end. This slang tem is derived from the "Don Quijote phenomenon", which refers to retail stores like Yodobashi Camera or Bic Camera using jingles to entice consumers, encouraging them to spend more money there. Please note that the "Don Quijote phenomenon", while uncommon in the West, is also commonly shown in Indonesia where retail stores like Giant, Indomaret, and Alfamart also have their own jingles.

After spending two hours in Don Quijote, I left with a bag full of snacks and that jingle stuck in my head—definitely suffering from a serious Don Quijote earworm!

Ear Worm

Most likely originated around the time of Hanson's "Mmmbop"; an ear worm refers to any song that is so catchy, and at the same time extremely annoying, that it feels like a worm has crawled into your ear and eaten the intelligent parts of your brain so that you hum the song all day long, no matter how much you hate it.
