Secret Artist Society

A group of artists who travel the world. In each hotel they stay in, they remove a painting on the wall and paint their own artwork behind it, then when they are finished they put the painting back on the wall so their own art work is unseen. Then, when the hotel room is redecorated, the picture is taken down and the people are shocked to find another person has painted a fabulous artwork behind it!

Other than this, little is known about the Secret Artist Society.

Person 1: I stayed in the hotel the other night and accidentally knocked a picture off the wall, and there was another painting on the wall behind it!

Person 2: It's time I let you in on a little secret... The Secret Artist Society!

artist statement

A writing from the artist that explains there work to some degree, usually fraught with words that they nor the viewer know. It does also typically include formal elements of the work, themes, and contextual information. More typically these statements of less than a page leave readers more confused than when they viewed the artists work, as the artist explains their work as if they were on LSD.

That artist statement is amazing, I can't even tell if I am a self-aware human being right now.

Andy Warhol said that he did not need an artist statement, "there is nothing behind it".

Artist Stare

A term used to describe when a person, most likely with a history in fine arts, stares at a person for an uncomfortably long amount of time, and may even appear angry. In reality they are squinting at a person's features trying to figure out their proportions, without realizing that they are doing so.

Person A: "Mr. G kept staring at me yesterday, I think I'm in trouble."
Person B: "He does that to everyone, he has 'Artist Stare syndrome."

Artist Eye Syndrom

The fact that an Artist's perception of art, including their perception of their own art, evolves overtime; thusly making their not so recent artwork look bad, even though when they were making it, they believed it looked good.

Artist Eye Syndrom effectively renders any piece of art an Artist makes a temporary source of enjoyment for themselves but a semi-permanent source of enjoyment for others.

Art Enjoyer: Oh wow! What an amazing piece of art. You made it two years ago, right?
Artist: Yeah, but I don't really like it anymore... I think it looks kinda bad now.
art Enjoyer: Oh... must be your Artist Eye Syndrom kicking in...
