A phrase that indicates something so obvious that even the thickest, most oblivious person should see it. Usually, but not always, meant in a slightly insulting or derogatory manner; Origins are unknown but possibly derived from Irish. Use of it seems to have started on the east coast but is also found throughout the country, mostly in rural communities. Similar to: "as plain as the nose on your face".

Get the plain-as-day mug.This term was used by the British Expeditonary Force in preparing for the Battle of the Somme in 1916. It culminated previous days of artillery bombardment called U,V,W,X,Y days. The actual time of attack was called Zero-Hour. Compare these with D-Day and H-Hour used by American troops late in that conflict, terms which became more widespread during WWII.
"Z Day" is found in numerous historical accounts from the time. For instance, from Guy Chapman's wartime memoir, "A Passionate Prodigality": "We were waiting for Z day. ... Once more Z day was postponed."

Get the fuck day mug.Chosen by the "moderators" of the site, this is used to promote a word or phrase. Made by the users of the site (supposedly, they could be creating alts). These definitions are often extremely biased and skewed in their own ways or generalize/stereotype an entire group. Due to their controversy, a high number of both dislikes and likes are given to the definitions, some based on trolling, others based on (sometimes objective) choices. Often moderators choose inaccurate or political ideas, for no known reason aside from promoting some agenda. Either that, or it's supposed to be the most popular word around, even though I doubt this.
