like "left hanging" when your hi five isnt returned, left holding is that awkward moment when you hold the door for someone and they dont walk through. this can be embarassing

also, you are said to be left holding when you hold the door open for one person, and 324234 more people walk through back to back, wheras if you let go, your a douchebag.

i was left holding at the mall when the girl behind me stopped to tie her shoe. total waste of my time

i was leaving the library with julie but i was left holding when a school of kids decided to walk through. when i finally left to catch up she had already driven home. bummer
