Praisebait

Praisebait (noun) – A social media post or behavior designed to deliberately attract compliments or validation. This can be done by downplaying oneself (“Ugh, I look so ugly today”) or using fake modesty (“I have no idea how I won this award!”) to get reassurance. Praisebait can also involve heavily edited photos or aesthetic edits that present someone in an exaggeratedly perfect way, aiming to elicit admiration and praise. Often seen as a subtle form of attention-seeking or self-image manipulation.

Emma posts a flawless, professionally edited selfie with the caption: “I look so tired and gross today, don’t even look at me.” Within minutes, the comments are filled with people telling her how stunning she looks.

When someone says they don't want or feel they need praise, but you secretly know they do want it and they will enjoy it amd as such you give it to them anyway. And when they smile, you know you were right all along.

Praiselate

To strategically praise a person or a group of people in order to manipulate the emotions of another person or group of people — usually to provoke jealousy, insecurity, competition or create a sense of inferiority without directly insulting or bashing the third party.

A subtle form of emotional triangulation and comparative flattery disguised as praise

“Notice how she kept praising his ex the whole night? She was clearly praiselating to make him feel less.”

“The teacher kept praising the other students just to get under our skin. Total praiselation.”

“You weren’t complimenting her — you were praiselating me.”

“He didn’t compliment her because he admired her — he did it to praiselate me”

A program, presented as a documentary, but that contains no criticisms of its subject matter. Similar to propaganda, but resulting more from naivete and business loyalty than from political motives.

National Geographic's "documentary" Ultimate Factories: John Deere is an uncritical piece, offering not the slightest hint of criticism or negative information of Deere. It's a total praisomentary.
