The P-47 Thunderbolt was also Equipped with 8 .50 Caliber Machine Guns and a Option of up to 2,500 lbs of Bombs.
The P-47 was used for a variety of reasons, It could be seen as a fighter escort for B-17 and B-24 bombers or a Ground Attack aircraft peppering the enemy front lines with machine gun fire. The P-47 Was used in action for the entire War and was later retired in 1966 by the Peruvian Air Force.
