Program Tripping

Program Tripping refers to a toxic dynamic within Alcoholics Anonymous, where there is a coercive culture that pressures members to conform to rigid interpretations of the program. This phenomenon often manifests in the following ways:

Coercive Conformity: Members may feel obligated to strictly adhere to the 12 steps and the group's expectations, with little room for personal interpretation or individual journey. Those who deviate from these norms may face social ostracism.

Harassment and Intimidation: Individuals expressing doubts or differing views may experience aggressive questioning or criticism, creating an environment of fear that discourages open sharing and vulnerability.

Escalation of Conflict: In extreme cases, members may resort to threatening behavior, including calling law enforcement on others in attempts to have them arrested or removed from the group. This escalation is deeply concerning and can create a hostile atmosphere that undermines the principles of support and compassion.

Social Consequences: Members who do not conform may face negative repercussions, such as isolation, bullying, or being targeted for public confrontation, which can severely impact their willingness to engage with the recovery process.

Impact on Recovery: Rather than fostering a safe and supportive environment, Program Tripping can lead to increased anxiety, reluctance to seek help, and ultimately, a detrimental effect on a member’s recovery journey.

welfare program

A program that your hard earned money pays for whether you like it or not that was intentionally used to help people get out of debt, but instead just encourages them to stay poor, or continue to do what made them poor.
tim: I just signed up for the welfare program

fred: Welfare? wasn't that made up to encourage you to not work?

tim: It's supposed to help people like me pay for living, now let's celebrate and smoke weed I bought with the check I received from welfare.

Meatball Programming

"Meatball Programming" is to programming what "Meatball Surgery" was to surgery on the TV series M*A*S*H, which ran from 1972 to 1983.

It is a hasty, ad-hoc approach to coding in which quick fixes are implemented without proper planning, documentation, testing, or regard for long-term system stability. These fixes are pushed up to the Live environment in record time, and they are focused solely on immediate problem resolution.
Our website is down again. The boys in the back room are doing some meatball programming to get it working again before we piss off even more users.

The Insight Program

A Lord of The Flies teen rehab cult where you get diagnosed an extreme drug addict for smoking pot twice. They "treat" homosexuality by discouraging porn, drugs and making sure minors never shave their pubic hair. But hey, "No Victims, Only Volunteers." In The Insight Program you apparently "volunteer" for addiction, sexual abuse, any illness, emotional abuse, and you volunteer to be born to your parents and you chose everything that is fucked up about your life!
"Aw man, I never saw my friend again after they went to The Insight Program."

"I went to The Insight Program and all I got was a maladjusted lifestyle."

"My parents paid 10K for The Insight Program to slut shame their daughter."

Delayed Entry Program

A person in their 30's (or older) who still lives with their parents and therefore delayed full adulthood. Synonymous with Peter Pan Syndrome. They have instead opted to delay living financially independent from their parents, starting their own family and/or parting with their vast collection of video games and other childhood toys. They have entered the Delayed Entry Program (for adults). Not to be confused with the program of the same name for entering the military.
Bernard hasn't left home since high school still works at the same supermarket he did in high school and is in his 30's. He has decided to sign-up for the Delayed Entry program (for grownups).
