Soft Machine

A British fusion/progressive rock group named after the book of the same name. They were a central band in the Canterbury Scene of musicians. They started off as a psychedelic band, performing at the UFO club of Pink Floyd fame. Their best album is, without a doubt, Third, which is fusion in the style of Miles Davis's Bitches Brew. It's very trippy.

Some famous members were Robert Wyatt, Mike Ratledge, Hugh Hopper, Kevin Ayers, and Allan Holdsworth.

I was listening to Third by Soft Machine, and it was so awesome that everybody came over and had a good time.

Michigan Beer Fund

In Michigan bottles and cans of pop and beer or other carbonated beverages can be returned for 10 cents each at any local grocery store. It is the highest "bottle deposit" in the country. People in Michigan usually collect all their empty cans or bottles and when they are broke return them to the store to buy more beer.

Person 1: "Dude the party is over, we are all out of bud light and cash.."
Person 2: "Nah man, we can just return the cans I have been saving these past two weeks as my Michigan Beer Fund. we can get another 12 pack!"

Person 1: "Wooh Michigan!"

Machine mode

When a male goes to a social gathering (such as a bar or club) and tries to chat up every female at said gathering.

A male in machine mode who gets knocked back by a female, will quickly forget about the female and move on to another female, often the nearest female to the first female and probably the first female's friend.

Friend 1 @ a club: "Alright mate, where you been for the last hour?"

Friend 2 @ the club: "No time to chat, I'm in machine mode tonight, I've already been knocked back by half the girls here... time to move on to the fat chicks. Later."
