Janky

There are many different meanings to the word. It can mean something is tacky, or someone is trashy, or something isn't working the way it should, or someone/something smells nasty.

Broke but somehow if not miraculously still working.

Derived from the term Gerry-rigged, which originated in WW2. During the allied advanced to Germany they were amazed at how Germans Panzers and commandeered Russian T-34s being in such a broke down state still ran and the ingenious methods and ad-hoc meterials the Germans would use to keep the tanks running.

I don't know how the hell he keeps that janky-a$$ Toyota toaster running!

A term used to describe anything or anyone that is gross, worn out, beat up, very broken down or just plain weird.

"Dad, this old dirt road that you're going down is very janky."

"I don't know what I was thinking when I kissed that boy, his breath was janky."

Any inferior or crap car or motor cycle that has been tricked up to look good. Janky is for the Crapness and inferiority of the vehicle and rice rocket refers to how it is tricked up to look flash and (japanesey)
