When people say that they wish “x” was real, what they mean is that they live in another parallel dimension where “x” is a worldwide conspiracy theory. Looking at our universe, they wish that they had the same thing.

This is commonly used by people who think they are the victim or by people who are depressed. This was a normal vocab turned into slang. many people use this on TikTok and may be used when you have nothing to say but "i agree" and it in generally a better word.

Popularized by depressing TikTok slideshows, 'real' is used to express how something shown (from the slideshow, for example) is very present in their life, and has a personal effect on them.
Due to a large proportion of such slideshows to be about heartbreak, people commonly mention how real may be used as an acronym for 'Realise Everybody Always Leaves' despite not always being the case.
