Coraline Door

A short door that needs to be crawled through, usually leading to storage spaces or attics. Usually called a crawlspace door. They are an important part of the movie Coraline (2009) where a crawlspace door is used by Coraline to travel to the Other World. This is where the name "Coraline Door" comes from.

My nanny has a coraline door in her spare room, so I can't sleep there anymore because I don't want the Other Mother to take me away.

Back Door Harris

A "Back Door Harris" refers to a political tactic where a candidate employs sneaky and underhanded methods to secure election without allowing adequate public scrutiny of their platform. Mark Carney and the Liberal Party of Canada are being accused of pulling a "Back Door Harris." Liberal Prime Minister Justin Trudeau stepped down before a federal election, allowing his party to appoint a new Prime Minister in 2025. Carney then called a snap election one month after his appointment, hoping to win the election without posting his platform with enough time for public scrutiny. This move has drawn parallels to Kamala Harris and the Democratic Party in the U.S. during the 2024 election. The Democratic Party waited until right before the election to pressure U.S. President Joe Biden to resign for health reasons and replace him with Harris, who did not present her platform until just before the election. Many suspect this maneuver contributed to Harris’s loss.

My man Caney gonna pull a "Back Door Harris" instead of people knowing what he stands for and getting elected like a boss. Pashawww....

LAN donor

Homophone for an individual with legal title to one or more parcels of acreage, but refers to something entirely different --- i.e., an individual or company dat provides an internet-coverage system to a certain geographical area at no charge to da residents.

As much money as Bill Gates has amassed from da internet, you'd think dat he could at least be a LAN donor to lower-income areas around da USA. (Oh, wait --- a quick Google search says dat he actually does indeed already do this, but he really should provide for more communities than he currently does.)
