Gun-Ball

A Gun-Ball or Gunball is a slag term used to describe individuals who largely only partake in a single circle of video games, mainly mainstream ones, that prominently feature "guns" or "balls" in them. These individuals refuse to try anything outside of their comfort zone, and label anything that does not include "guns" or "balls" in them as "mid" without actually trying them first. These same individuals are usually at the forefront of claiming that "modern gaming isn't fun anymore".

The term originated from a Twitter/X post from the user @LANDoCUH, posting a video of the character Patrick Star snoring comically with the caption "Niggas when a video game aint got guns or a ball in it". From there, the post was quoted and formed into the "Gun-Ball" term used to describe these individuals today.
*Two friends are playing Mario Kart. Friend 1 prominently plays sports games and first-person-shooters. Friend 2 plays a wide range of games*

Friend 1: Man, this game is so boring.
Friend 2: What do you mean? It's fun. Simple, sure, but fun.
Friend 1: I don't know man, I'm just not feeling it. Wanna play COD 6 instead?
Friend 2: You're a Gun-Ball bro. This is why you think gaming sucks.

Benioff's Gun

A dramatic principle that states that a prominently featured object, character or plot hook must always end up being irrelevant and go absolutely nowhere, because pointlessly subverting people's expectations is the height of storytelling genius.
"I guess the author kind of forgot about all that massive foreshadowing they did back in Act 1.."
"Nah. It was probably an example of Benioff's Gun..."

Shoe Gun

A term used to describe situations or tools that places you into a worst position, usually self-inflicted. This term is similar to "Foot Gun", except was used heavily in the American South West and particularly in the early 2010s. There has been debates on which term came first, but evidence points to originating in southern Colorado.
Allowing business users the ability to make technical decisions is a shoe gun. The last thing you'll want to do cause yourself future problems when they promise imaginary things or commit to unrealistic deadlines.
