We are country people that usually live in trailers or small houses, have lots of junk and no running vehicles in our yards. Have high knowledge of mechanics but are on a budget and fix stuff with duck tape and zip ties. Enjoy muddin, drankin beer and Mountain Dew, we spend lots of money on our trucks but their still junk, like huntin fishin shooting beer cans and ridin 4 wheelers. And always wear boots and a hat usually John Deere, catapillar or camouflage

Found all across the United States, an American redneck is a rural American who works a blue collar job, drives either a rust bucket, or a new pickup truck, or muscle car (usually old and custom), and believes in tradition, family, and freedom. Yes. Many of us appreciate NASCAR, fishing, hunting, bonfires, gun ranges, country and rap music, mobile homes, the use of contractions like 'y'all', 'y'all're', etc., jacked up trucks, chrome, flag waving, chest thumping, and, of course, recycling of Cool Whip containers, cans, and car parts. No. We're not racist, we believe in merit. We aren't all white. Many of us are Latino, Mestizo, Métis, black, amerindian, etc. We aren't less educated than everyone else. Thanks to the lovely public education system, everyone gets an equally shitty education, and plenty of us travel from time to time, and go to college.
The world "redneck" refers to the deep tan on the back of the neck caused by working and playing in the sun.

"She's a grade A, certified, homegrown redneck. Hasn't changed, never will." "Girls like her are hard to find these days, I tell you what."

Southern folk who don’t got much of an education. Probably got a brother cousin and reads at a fourth-grade level as an adult. Kind heart and a high alcohol tolerance. Shouts random sounds and calls em words.
Person 1: He kinda looks like a redneck.
Person 2: Maybe he got a brother cousin.

A real redneck loves the outdoors, has a close bond with his or her family, is all about DIY and takes pride in their work. Most likely a gun owner, drives a truck and lives in the country or a small town, probably has a dog, generally loves life, and is damn proud to be a redneck

The word redneck has been misused for years. But do you know the history? In September 1921 10,000 armed coal miners went on strike to unionize the southwestern West Virginia coalfields. The coal workers wore red bandanas around their neck to identify as pro union.
