fan immunity is a term used when for when a fan favorite character from a movie, book, game, or tv show is immune to death. This means said character will not die or if they have died will not stay dead for long because of the fans. This also means they will return often in the series.

"When the shit hits the fan" is the vulgar and more satisfying term for a situation that suddenly gets messy. It gives you an idea of just how messy a situation by comparing it to being in a small room when a handful of loose feces are launched into the spinning fan blades.
