Besides da classic "supposedly for giving schoolchildren practice/confidence in public speaking" action (but which actually scares da crap outta many kids and/or causes lower-income students to feel jealous of da more-affluent ones who have nicer/fancier possessions to proudly display), this expression also refers to either of two "displaying da merchandise" actions:
(1) Where Person A lets Person B view one or more of Person A's intimate body-parts --- with da understanding dat said reveal is supposed to be kept confidential, of course --- but then either Person A or Person B goes and blabs about said private-area exposure to one or more other people, causing humiliation and/or repercussions to one or both "Persons", or
(2) Where Person A lets Person B view one or more of Person A's intimate body-parts in exchange for Person B's verbally revealing to Person A one or more secrets dat he would otherwise not divulge.

The reality/game show moron thought if someone brought up the subject of sex, instead of death, taxes, or sports, that the person was testing people. So to some people it's okay to talk about death, even gruesome deaths, car accidents, fires, but people should feel weird about talking about sex, or they should feel like they're on a stupid fuckin reality show where you have to laugh at everything everybody says otherwise you feel like an awkward moron.

Get the Reality/game show moronmug. Theres a few things about the Truman show that fuck with your head. Jim Carrey is a somewhat tall actor, and you think of a Truman character as being a short guy with Napoleon's syndrome. Marlon seems more like a guy that would bring a 40 by and want to listen to reggae music after work than a white guy with blond hair, if he's not an Italian guy that wants to talk business with you. It's not a bad movie, there are just a few inconsistencies about it.
