a concatenated, shortened version of "Cellular Phone", named for its ingenious method of organizing groups of private frequencies into discrete areas. When a user's phone left one "cell", the user entered another, thus jumping from one frequency to the other without losing the call.

It describes the mannerism of being unconsciously attached to your cellphone, for example, habitually playing with it, or holding it.

That device which generally all people posess, it cannot be out of arm's length because of society's fear of losing contact. Teenagers "text" with it, and if they are not consistantly in contact with multiple friends and/or acquiantances, they implode. The average age a teen/child recieves this vital lifeline has been lowering since the dawn of the 2000's. While it used to be a device shockingly few people posessed, you now see many a six year old "texting," as they should be in order to socialize properly. A device people tend to throw against walls when frustrated.

"Mom, everyone else has a cellphone, and I NEED one to text!!!"

The chirping-like noise produced through speakers when you're about to receive a phone call at your cellphone or you're in the "searching for networks" thing and you're standing next to a sound source such as a radio, a hi-fi, your PC's speakers etc.

- Oops, cellphone chirping I hear...
- It must be mine, I left it near the speaker over there...

- Aw man move yer cellpone away of my desk, it's chirping!

- Yeah but no phone call coming in, it's just trying to catch signal.
