A cat found on the ground.

Another variation is Ground Kitten.

"Wow, that's a nice looking kitty right there."

"Thanks! She's my Ground Cat."

"What in sweet fuck does that even mean?"

"Oh, I found her on the ground when I was outside smoking."

"What the fuck is wrong with you?"

snake in the ground

Similar to a snake in the grass, a snake in the ground is a far snakier snake. They are much harder to spot than their grass-dwelling counterparts and will strike when you least expect it.

"Hey man, keep an eye on that tall grass, could be a snake hidin' there."
"Hell, I ain't worried about some boring grass snake. There could be a snake in the ground right under our goddamn feet!"

"Damn man, you know that Becky my girl's been hanging with?"
"Yeah, Becky, she that older lady right?"

The epicenter of a disaster or explosion.

Currently, the term is most commonly used in reference to the location of the World Trade Center after the September 11th attacks.

It took much less time than expected to clear the debris from ground zero.
