There is no set line to be a "Emo Girl" you don't have to buy band shirts or have dark hair and cut yourself. It's sad that most people think of it that way.

Gregg Gillis (aka Girl Talk) is a not a DJ. He cuts up songs, stretches and loops beats, mixes samples of many different genres to create recontextualized and fresh songs. Call it mashup on ecstasy. Went to school for biomedical engineering, but quit in 2007 to focus on his music. The legality of said music is oft discussed, as he uses at least two dozen unauthorized samples per track. Gillis cites "fair use" as a legal defense for his sampling practices. He feels as though copyrights inhibit creativity. So far, there hasn't been a lawsuit. Girl Talk has released four albums and several EPs on Illegal Art. His latest, "Feed the Animals" uses over 300 samples and is critically acclaimed. Where else can you hear Salt 'N Pepa mixed with Nirvana? That's what I thought.

a girl who skates and is totally underestimated by guys. usually hangs out with a group of guys, and she usually has no idea, but they are all in love with her. and when challengeng to a skate comp. she will kick the dude's ass who challeneged her. not to be mixed up with sk8r grrl. i sk8r grrl is someone who owns a skateboard, and carries it around with her, listning and dressing like avril lavigne. real skater girls are usually very tough.

commonly (but not always) one of the most annoying girls on the planet. they're all over tiktok. most of their videos consist of color customizer, along with random words like "i'm literally so hot stfu" (most annoying) and use 🥺 unironically. they like to tell men to not sexualize girls and then make videos of them joking about groping their friends (how about nobody sexualizes anybody?). they also take 'kill all men' way too far when it's supposed to be a joke. they call themselves 'under rated' but their content is just them staring into the camera and moving their head around. if you call them out for being bitchy they usually come back with "i have trust issues beacause (insert traumatic incident here)" and try to guilt trip you. they say 'don't judge others and love yourself 🥺💕" and then make fun of 'basic' girls. they also think that outting on heavy make up from a tutorial on youtube is a personality trait. over all, just stay away from "alt tiktok".
