Akin to the phrase “Reading between the lines” reading between the texts is a phrase used to describe the confusion of tone and implication in texting, especially with the member of preferred sex.

She texted me “Hey” but with 2 y’s. Maybe she thinks I’m cute, but I could be reading between the texts.

When you text someone that doesn't respond as fast as you would like.

I texted you to see if my phone is working. I gave "dude" like a Whole 2 minutes to respond.
