I have a good definiton for poser. My cousin. She is very cool, but is a pretty big poser. SHe recently started liking rock. Her favorite bands are Green Day, Panic! at the Disco, AFI, Simple Plan, My Chemical Romance...and thats pretty much it. I asked her if she knew "Death Cab for Cutie" "Blink 182" and even the old songs of Green Day...and she had NO IDEA. SHe painted her nails black, borrows her sisters black shirts(which says 'baby phat' on them, but as long as they are black, she doesnt care), and started to hate pink. Well, I like rock and metal, but I dont dress all in black. Her myspace is sooo emo and she tries to hit on emo kids. Her sisters call her goth, but she denies it. WHAT GIVES?! I mean, she doesnt even know what Oldies are!!!! She has no idea who Korn or Slipknot is. She shoudl just give up.

Angela*: omg rock is the best!

me: have you heard "all the small things."? its REALLY CATCHY!

Angela*: what is that? a new radio station.

i cannot explain more. she is just a big poser. period.

a person who habitually pretends to be something he is not

those who "talk the talk but don't walk
the walk".

Somebody that is one person around some poeple and someone completely different around other people.

Someone that can fit into more than one clique or subculture.

A person that changes there appearance and attitude to fit in with others that aren't like them. Ussually assosiated with:

Punk
Goth
Emo
Skaters
Ect.

Sara (last years homecoming queen newly dressed chucks and and a SOCO tee ): "hey guys how 'bout that Edgar Blink 182.

random punk person:"eh"

Sara: "yeah, like that's hot!"

random punk person: "who are you Paris Hilton...what a poser!"

a poser is a wannabe. basically a loser who tries to fit in by copying people they feel are COOL.

people who know a poser, should probably feel flattered. posers generally copy their friends, people who are unique get extremely P**sed at this :)

Lauren: omg check out my myspace... its SOOO original
Elly: uhuh yea its so great you used your initiative, im so glad you copied and pasted my website into your blog :)

One who adopts the stylistic and overall aesthetic traits of a group or movement, without actually considering the attitude, ideals and lifestyle of said group.

Guy 1: Well, I got my Suicidal Tendencies hat, Bad Brains T-shirt, Dickies work pants with studded belt, Vans Sk8 HIs and knee high socks. I'm officially a HARDCORE SKATER! WOOH!!!

Guy 2: Hey Dude, I noticed your gear man. Suicidal's one of my favorite bands man! I bet you must skate as well! Those Hi-tops are so good for vert, the waffle grip is amazing!

Guy 1: ...Aaaah, nah man I dont skate.

Guy 2: Oh ok, well what's your favorite Bad Brains song?

Guy 1: *bemused* I don't know dude, I've never actually listened to them before.

Never trust someone who claims to be a good guy/girl but isn't who they say they are/seem to be. Someone like that is a poser.
