Artificial Generic Intelligence

The level of artificial intelligence humans in the present moment think AI should be able to achieve in the future based only on current needs, expectations, and imagination. It’s basically a moving baseline of “AI smart enough” that will always look outdated in hindsight. It's not what AI actually can do, but what we, stuck in the present, assume it should do one day.

In 2025, people might say a “generic intelligent” AI should be able to wash dishes, write essays, drive cars, and do taxes.

In 2050, those same expectations might sound dumb, because maybe no one even has dishes, homework, or taxes anymore.

Back in the 1800s, artificial generic intelligence would’ve been an AI that milks cows and writes letters for you. Now that’s writing essay and doing taxes, in future would there even be any need of essays.

There is this guy talking about AI on some panel and this is what he says. I don't know how many times I have to tell you this but IT ISN'T THE AI! His criticism is that when asked about whether or not Palestinians should be free it give some evasive non-answer about how complex the situation is and when you ask it if the Jews should be free it gives a direct answer and states that like everyone else the jews should be free. Do you know why it's doing that?"

Hym "Because it's a shit-lib! It does the same thing when you ask it about Trump vs asking it about Biden. If you ask it about Trump it said it's just an AI and can't comment on politics but when you ask it about Biden it will give a straight answer. But that isn't the AI being neither artificial nor intelligent. The lens through which is views the world is the shit-lib ethos. They did that on purpose because they think their minds work well...
